(Waste From The Government, Industrial Waste, and Construction Debris Are Being Put Here) The Keystone Sanitation Landfill site, located in Adams County, Pennsylvania. this Landfill covers about 40 acres of a former farm that accepted municipal and industrial waste and construction debris from 1966 to about 1990 The landfill area is on a ridge and a run off that leaves the are in all directions. Tests on the water have shown that the surrounding ground water has been contaminated. The population around the perimeters within a 3-mile radius of the landfill area is about 2,300. An estimate of 1,700 people drink water from private wells or springs that have the contaminated water within three miles of the site. The landfill area was proposed to the list on April 10,1985 on a serious, uncontrolled, or abandoned hazardous waste site and was formally added to the list on July 22,1987.
